Department of Literary Communication in the People’s Republic of Poland

Room 110

Members of the Department:
Dr. Katarzyna Stańczak-Wiślicz

The Department office hours: Wednesdays 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

About the Department:
The members of the Department conduct research primarily on the period of communism in Poland. Their interests include mainly topics relating to the history of ideas after 1945, sets of values presented both by the authorities and various social groups (along with émigré circles), as well as the opposition (within and counter to the system). The members of the Department also attempt to describe the ways, forms, and distortions of social communication processes after 1945. Related to this research are media studies devoted to paraliterary texts, as are analyses of the forms of extra-literary communication.
Until recently, an ongoing team work focused on the grant "Polish Humanities, 1945-1990." The aim of the research was, among other things, to prepare a critical edition of the sources with introductions written by individual researchers.
